I am excited to announce our new blog dedicated to introducing ITIL 4. Our goal is to provide you quick tidbits of information on how ITIL 4 differs from the previous version of ITIL, known as ITIL V3 or ITIL 2011. We plan to do this in 3 to 4 paragraphs and, therefore, we are naming it 3 to 4 in 3 to 4.
As you may or may not know, Axelos has introduced the latest version of ITIL this past February, simply naming it ITIL 4. ITIL 4 represents a significant change to the Service Management best practice framework over V3, which was last updated in 2011 with a minor refresh.
ITIL 4 moves away from a focus of the lifecycle of an IT Service and the 5 stages of the Service Lifecycle. Instead, ITIL 4 focuses on IT as an extension of the business value chain and brings in a more flexible approach of applying the right practices to support the needs of each Service. As part of this, ITIL 4 introduces the concept of the ITIL Service Value System and the 4 Dimensions Model. We will describe this in more detail in our upcoming blog entries.
OwlPoint is excited to be leading the ITIL 4 movement! We look forward to providing insight into ITIL 4 and helping organizations achieve the efficiency, effectiveness, and value that drives today’s thriving businesses.
